I had a great Father’s Day weekend.  Our son and his family were here Thursday and Friday, got a call from our daughter in N.C. and called my dad on Sunday. Today, I got this from my wife:

She’s watching way to much CNN, where they did a lengthy piece on this yesterday.

Shepard Smith ended his Fox News broadcast the other day with a commentary, sounding very much like something Keith Olbermann might well have done over on MSNBC. Go and watch.  He’s right on target.  And, don’t forget, he’s from Mississippi, so this is personal.

It’s a quiet one around the Krile household.  Calls from the kids and an early dinner at The Pantry to celebrate.  Just so you have something fun to watch, here’s Willie’s Week in Review from Morning Joe -

I know there’s been a massive lack of posting around here lately.  The new job is taking up a lot of my attention! But, that’s a good thing and I hope to get into a routine that does allow some more posting here.  As a quick “thank you” for sticking around, I’m passing along an old favorite recipe that I threw together tonight and realized it has been far too long since I made it. I’m a big fan of Blue Cheese Dressing for salads and dipping.  Years ago, searching for something that wasn’t totally calorie-laden, I stumbled across this idea – it’s so simple you won’t believe that it’s good, but it is.

All you do is put some sour cream in a container – I use Reduced Fat Sour Cream – toss in some Blue Cheese (however much or little you like) then put a little bit of plain white vinegar in – just enough to thin it to whatever consistency you like. That’s it. You’ll be surprised at how good it tastes.  One tip – I’ve tried the low-fat cheese and it’s not as good, but this is still better than something based on mayonnaise, isn’t it?

No, I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth!  The new job and family have been keeping me more-than-busy!  All in a good way, of course. So, in the interest of keeping things alive, here’s a bit of fun stuff from today’s “Morning Joe” on MSNBC – Willie Geist’s “Week in Review”-

Thinking back to my early days, working at a small-market radio station in Iowa, I was surprised to see a contemporary mention of a broadcaster doing daily obituaries. In the early 1970's, we often led the noon news with a rundown of obituaries from the local funeral homes. Listeners counted on that daily reportage and were offended if it was missing or even pushed lower in the newscast. Indeed, the concept has resurfaced – this time on television:
